Many people today still believe skin and fur are “by-product” of the meat industry.

This is not true.

According to International Fur Trade Federation, 85% of fur skin came from factory farming and while the rest can be so-called “by-product” it still is a products result from animal exploitation from food industry and you can imagine that is not a pretty.

Besides the cruel aspect of killing animals for its flesh and skin, the process of making skin and fur produces a lot of waste and the chemical used pollute the soil and harm workers. According to Peta “factory-farmed animals produce 130 times more excrement than the human population does. This waste—untreated, unsanitary, and bubbling with chemicals—may be left to decompose in huge lagoons or sprayed over crop fields, resulting in runoff that contaminates nearby soil and waterways.”
